Russian, Putin and RT

"Aleksandr Buzgalin: RT is portraying Putin as a democrat who stands up to the US"

I was always annoyed when people post videos from RT up here. It is a conspiratorial, speculative "network" that makes Fox look honest.

but their treatment of Libya really bothered me. Some people will lap up anything that's anti-American without checking the source too closely.

Apparently, Libya was a peaceful place minding its own business, until the evil western empires drummed up a fake rebellion right down to the fake videos and fake twitter please for help.

Right here is the combined curse and blessing of the internet. There is an abundance of information for everyone, with the result that you can produce any kind of bullshit and present it as news and people will believe it because they want to.

Chemtrails anyone?

the thing that really got me about Libya was that people were in the process of being mowed down by the hundreds with heavy weaponry and aircraft. Sometimes playing a propaganda war is relatively harmless, but in the face of that kind of slaughter it looks a lot darker.

And now suddenly it was purely a war of aggression from the west.

Really enjoyed their perspective. But like you, I noticed an anti-American bent that slowly turned me off. The final straw was the comments of those who commented on the stories, suggesting the U.S. was responsible for the Japan earthquake last year.

I really don't trust RT.

I'm not so concerned if they are anti-American. What I want to know is are they:

1.Corporate
2.Communist
3.A Kremlin mouthpiece
4.Socialist
5.Democratic Socialist
6.Liberal
7.Progressive
8.Some of all the above

I will try to answer it. RT is a corporate but foreign entity. They share the same corporate values at their core that all the corrupt media monopolies in the US have, and millions of unaware Americans can't see the truth through the relentless propaganda, condescension, and political manipulation. Things keep getting worse in the US, and the media is largely to blame as they promote and protect the 1%. For the 99% of us, the real Americans who are not corrupt, we must be the media to each other.

But RT is also a nationalistic entity, protecting Putin as the article exposes, and not objective in any way. Still their perspective is valuable at times as a view into the corruption in our own government our own nationalistic media hides, and keeps fellow citizens in the dark.
