I thought that when white(r?) people talk about immigration reform, it was racist. So they are being racist against other whites?

It appears the definition of "white" is a matter of convenience....

Hispanics are White by convenience. Mexican Americans are not generally perceived to be White Hispanics, normally they are thrust into the Native American fold/ Hispanic general. Rather than actually listed as Whites and when we're looking at immigration reform it's in relation predominantly to Mexican Americans. However White Hispanic is all about pigmentation and nothing more...in effect it's an entirely racist classification at it's base. There are titles of White Hispanic and Black hispanic or my favorites White (non-Hispanic) or Black (non-Hispanic).

However in the case of Zimmerman is he just White. He is half White Hispanic and Half White...ultmimately making him White. But there's plenty of Hispanic/Black hate to go around.

This young man wouldn't have died if Zimmerman didn't have a concealed weapon permit and a gun. He was pumped up with the false courage a lethal weapon provides. With no gun he might have stood down as he was instructed to do or, at the worse, there would have been a scuffle until it was straightened out. I see young men getting guns and having them to hand at the slightest hint of a threat. With all this loose talk about our Constitutional right to bear arms, it's a wonder this doesn't happen every day. When are we going to wake up from this nightmare?

You know that he wouldn't have an unregistered gun?

You know that he wouldn't have bludgeoned the poor kid with a baseball bat?

There are a lot of possibilities on how this could have gone down. My point is that guns are powerful, lethal, quick and allow distance in a fight. Permits and guns are currently easy to obtain and even encouraged. Because they are so lethal, they give the carrier a sense of power to control a situation and before you know it, an innocent young man is dead. I know seemingly reasonable young men who collect guns legally and carry them all the time. It's a sense of entitlement and they carry them as a symbol of their rights. They are always prepared at the slightest hint of a threat and I am in fear that something like this will happen, quickly and finally. I have never lived with a gun in my life. I don't feel vulnerable in this world and it's hard for me to understand this compulsion to be lethally armed. The only thing I fear is being mistaken by one of these young men as Trayvon was.
