How much sugar do we eat?

This mom got so fed up with all the sugar and junk food pushed on her kid, she created this homespun video to show how much sugar we eat. Visit facebook.com/sugarcrashers to learn more about how the sugar industry is killing us and what you can do about it.

Small wonder we have such a high rate of obesity and diabetes in our country.

I buy the basics and cook myself. I might but two five pound bags of sugar a year and most of that goes in my coffee, the rest is to kick the yeast for baking bread. I might consume another two pounds in soda and other junk food a year.
Until 2002 I probably was consuming close to 10 lbs a year but I don't think I could ever consume more than that. I'm not much of a sweet freak so I guess I'd be the odd man out.

You can certainly add it if you like, but generally speaking bread has more flavor the longer it takes for the yeast to develop. If you want to shorten the development time, you can simply add more yeast.

I have not bought sugar in about 10 years. I use Splenda for anything that needs sweetening. I never drink soda or fruit juices. I only drink V-8. And I always buy sugar-free ice cream and candy. I am sure there is sugar in some of the processed foods I eat, but I am trying to keep sugar at a minimum.
