TYT: More Guns Is Safer, Right? Missouri Has The Answer

"A new study has found that around 60 more people have been murdered each year since the state of Missouri made it easier to buy a handguns without going through a background check.

In the study which will be published in an issue of the Journal of Urban Health, a team of researchers led by Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Policy and Research Director Daniel Webster found that between 55 to 63 more people were murdered each year after Missouri repealed its permit-to-purchase (PTP) handgun law in 2007.

"This study provides compelling confirmation that weaknesses in firearm laws lead to deaths from gun violence," Webster said in a press release. "There is strong evidence to support the idea that the repeal of Missouri's handgun purchaser licensing law contributed to dozens of additional murders in Missouri each year since the law was changed."

After the law was repealed, unlicensed sellers were no longer required to perform background checks before selling their guns."* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down.

Civil War bunch of guys come up to one man. hand it over big laugh out comes machine gun. just one guy. Yeah todays guns would skewer all the cops and we'd have the bad guys winning the wild wild west. I'll take a Rifle or a Shotgun. But if your loading for an AR-15 or a hand guns sure hope it's for competition only.

and we have the absolute freedom to kill each other with guns. It says so right there in the Second Amendment of the Constitution, and if you disagree with me I will become fearful for my life and stand my ground. What's that? You're not armed? Under the Constitution that makes absolutely no difference, and my Second Amendment rights trump your right to live.

So there...

and I do keep up with the news -- as sad and frightening as it is. Obscene SYG laws and lax regulation of guns is creating a vigilante gun culture in this country and substituting problem resolution/avoidance with violence and killing.

5. In Walmart family carrying guns

I was shopping in Walmart and there was a family of four 2 kids, 5 to 11, and wife with a head shaved young to middle aged man with an automatic pistol strapped to his hip filling their basket with food etc and I thought why on earth did this guy feel the need to wear his pistol while shopping in Walmart with his family (In Mo). Never been any violence there so why. Now I have to worry about how crazy these goobers are when I go grocery shopping that they are going to whip out their weapons and start shooting for one reason or another. I need a suicide bombers vest with a remote switch just to protect myself. That way they know they aren't getting away.
Just how crazy is this paranoia going to get? What is wrong with these people? Guess they no longer believe their God is going to protect them huh.

people, and get in everyone's face because they legally can. They have no sense of civility or compassion which is why they are not to be trusted.

The NRA, ALEC, and the Koch Brothers have nurtured the lie that the Second Amendment is under attack by Liberal Democrats, and used that fear to sell more and more guns for profits. They don't care about the bloodshed and grief they have caused, and are hiding behind the US Constitution as a marketing ploy.

The right-wing gun lobby and the gun culture it has spawned has become a health hazard, and gun deaths are forecast to exceed automobile deaths by 2015. The only way to counter this obscenity is at the voting booth. We must elect more Liberal Democrats who feel that the "well regulated" part of the Second Amendment should be given more attention than the "keep and bear" part. We must also keep electing Democratic Presidents until the SCOTUS is a majority Liberal body once again.

How far up your "where the sun don't shine" hole did you reach for that hyperbolic nonsense?

"...my Second Amendment rights trump your right to live..."!?!?!

Some truly amazing horseshit gets spouted on these types of threads.
