GROUNDSWELL RISING… more developing against Fracking

This is just a trailer …

Groundswell Rising, Protecting Our Children’s Air And Water, the new documentary from Emmy Award-winning Resolution Pictures, captures the passion of people engaged in a David and Goliath confrontation. They stand together, challenging a system that promotes profit over health.

I do. I've lived here a long time - pipeline era veteran - and I can tell you, flat out, if they decide to pull this crap again? It's for Lower 48 cars/vans/busses/trucks. We sure as heck don't benefit from it.

I'm in the "sweet spot" being that the SW portion of PA lures the major oil and gas industry's interest. What is the cost of the drilling interest is the mystery for most people…

There will be more and more protest over this. We are getting organized here. I did what I could locally to call attention to land abuse and law that were being stomped on to usurp local control over that (Act 13, Pennsylvania, which has been undergoing court challenge).

No, we don't benefit from what people will do upon finding we have "peaked" on oil.

Solidarity!

And fracking is the only way big oil can get more, while sucking up all the resources around it's efforts.

It isn't easy getting water here, already. Are these companies just uncaring? Yep.

7. A couple of sickening truths:

1. The fellow "in charge" of fracking by a major oil company chose to quit his job(?), go ballistic and refuse to allow "them" to frack near his home. He claimed major devaluation of HIS property. What about everyone elses' property values and the health of our nation?

2. President Obama can issue an executive order to immediately stop fracking. IDK, it may be only a temporary one until the real
studies are complete. The real studies (no oil money allowed) would prove what a dangerous practice this is and permanently stop it. At least allow Americans to vote on it based on the truth. Face it, we elected a non-caring, corporate shill.

I thought of other countries they have done things like this to (oil.) In Central and South America. In Africa.

And now it's here. Logic is lost, isn't it? If we are all poisoned by the chemicals in the water, ground and air, to obtain energy for heating/cooling our homes, cooking our dinners and laundering our clothes, then won't we eventually end up dead? How can they make money from this energy if we're all dead? If PO is thinking about his legacy at this point, since he's in his last term as President, looks like he would be behooved to stop the degradation of our environment. This country has to turn the corner on our energy problem. We have to face what it is doing to us and will do to our descendent's, what it is doing to our quality of life right now. We absolutely must get Democrats back in charge in the House and get a filibuster and veto-proof Senate to save ourselves.

Will the producers of this documentary film be able to get it on PBS? Would MSNBC allow it to be shown, via Rachel or Lawrence's show? Hell, get it on CNN, if MSNBC won't show it. What good will it do, if no one sees it? Hell, get a foundation grant to cover the expense of getting it to every library in this land and have free public showings, and then discuss the content immediately after the showing. The people need to see this now. Not 5 years from now.

… since they've carried more on this, believe it or not.

I took from your posting the greatest line as golden… "How can they make money from this energy if we're all dead?"

... and FreeSpeechTV & LinkTV on Dish. Heck, what do we have to do, since we don't have a viable news media in this country anymore? Invest in jumbotrons and big rigs and drive them around all over the country so people can get the most desperate news to the people? No, big rigs with hd screens on the sides & back of the trailer. Someone needs to write a social science fiction book on this. It would be comparable to Upton Sinclair's The Jungle. Might shiver the timbers of someone up in the beltway to reclaim our First Amendment grant of Freedom of the Press.

here in Texas that no longer have potable water for drinking due to fracking. Let me repeat in Texas that no longer have potable water for drinking due to fracking. You can live without gas, but how much growth can you have without water. These town were lied to and corrupt land commissioners pocketed the money and now these folks have to drink bottled water. Fracking not only contaminates ground water but it uses excessive amounts. And to make matters worse, we are in one of the worst droughts we have had in decades.

10. How Greedy and Dumb Can the White Man Get?
Wed Mar 5, 2014, 12:38 PM

The whole fracking thing reminds me of one of my favorite Native American proverbs or wisdom sayings to the White Man:

Only after the last tree has been cut down, only after the last river has been poisoned, only then will you discover - that money cannot be eaten!

Yeah, when will we finally take decisive action and turn that corner in our energy policy, and aggressively, energetically and wholeheartedly pursue the clean, green renewable energy sources and technology of the future? One terrible side effect of corporate greed is that it has a real blinding and dumbing down effect on the politicians and political leaders who are under the effect of its influence. Any third grader who is paying attention can tell you that clean water to drink is much more important and essential to our survival than gas to burn. And hey look, Ma - in my science project, I can actually set our tap water on fire - the very water that our local politicians told us was safe to drink!

The white man, and now even the black man, speaks with forked tongue, says the Native American. Obama may deliver some pretty, eloquent speeches about clean, renewable energy, but when it comes to walking the walk, and not just talking the talk, he has not shown a whole heckuva lot of spine and backbone to stand up to the corporate interests and just say NO!

How ironic it is that here in the 21st century, a supposedly advanced and enlightened era of great scientific and technological progress and achievement, We the People are having to stand up against corporate tyrants who are actually suicidal maniacs with a greenback-colored death wish to destroy the whole planet just to keep on harvesting the green. Could the fathers of our country ever have imagined such a crazy, outlandish state of affairs?
