(53,959 posts)Almost as interesting in the "new" awareness some are having in regards to anti-Semitism. This video only comes as a "surprise" to those who don't have a clue about anti-Semitism...in all of its forms.

(5,668 posts)that a Pro Russian president allowed this to happen. If people in Crimea are suddenly relaxed now that Russian soldiers are here... hey the President who went AWOL on his own country allowed this. Now question is has the incidents gone up or down. Many countries have this. USA certainly has it. Let alone anybody's tombstones getting kicked over

(3,982 posts)But recent developments in Ukraine are particularly concerning.
Neo-Nazism there has risen along with Nationalism. Right Sector, the most disturbing group there, grew out of the Euromaiden movement where they were able to recruit and organize. The new administration in Kiev has increased Svoboda's Parlimentary representation and both Svoboda and Right sector have been given key executive positions in the administration.
I know that the "official narrative" doesn't discuss this, but it is simply the case of how things are evolving

(14,732 posts)has always been tenuous at best. Antisemitism has always been available to whatever political group wanted to make use of it, reaching its nadir during the German occupation where many locals enthusiastically helped the Nazis persecute the Jews or persecuted them on their own. This is just the latest chapter in a very long very sad story.

(14,732 posts)help but sense that there is a rising tide of antisemitism throughout Europe now. It's been long enough that the lessons of the Holocaust have been lost to the younger generations and it's always a great stick for ambitious politicians to use. And, when there is economic insecurity, people tend to respond to the cries of "it's really THEIR" fault.
