TYT: Even A Gun Couldn't Save This Painful CPAC Speech

*Despite his victory over Tea Party-backed challenger Matt Bevin in Kentucky's upcoming GOP primary looking all but guaranteed, Sen. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell — who has always had a uneasy if not downright toxic relationship with the Tea Party — tried his best during a Thursday morning speech at CPAC to prove to the crowd that he was just as wing-nutty as the next guy. After walking on stage with a prop gun and delivering a lengthy paean to outgoing GOP Sen. Tom Coburn (one of the Tea Party's favorite senators), McConnell kicked things off with a joke seemingly plucked straight out of a Dennis Miller act. "The president of the United States has treated the Constitution worse than a placemat at Denny's," McConnell said and then paused, likely hoping for a more boisterous response from his audience than the tepid chuckles he received. But the leader of the Republicans in the Senate soon dispensed with attempts at humor, transitioning immediately into an angry condemnation of the Democratic Party — and New York Sen. Chuck Schumer, in particular...* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down.

#0 sez: "Even holding a shotgun Mitchie looks like a wimp. I'll bet Bon Jovi didn't give him permission to use that song either."

#0 Bonus comment: "The rich have gotten richer, the poor have gotten poorer, the middle class has gotten squeezed, and Mitchie is blaming OBAMA? Think about that for a minute..."

He told RF that what "the left" doesn't understand was that ol' Mitch wasn't just carrying a firearm out onto stage, and that he was just proud of the award he'd recently been presented with from the NRA. The uncontested implication was that the rifle was indeed the award.

Of course it wasn't. Mitch could have walked out with the actual plaque and the accompanying citation held above his head like a prize winning welter weight boxer, but he would have looked stupid(er). He still looked like a 2nd ammendment poser, but I wish Farrow would have seen through the lame excuse and asked directly if that old muzzle loader was indeed the award he received. Instead, the rookie newsman just let the bogus explanation hang out there and moved on.

I notice the weapon was very carefully chosen for the staged stunt. Mitch was cautious not to brandish a Glock or an assault rifle because it would have appeared that he was ready to take hostages at the circus event. Instead he displayed an antique black powder long rifle that would never be used in the commission of a crime, and he was careful not to brandish it in a way that it would appear he was going to shoot someone. I highly doubt Mitch McConnell even owns that prop. It probably came from above a staffer's fireplace.

It was Stupid Political Theater 101 for the gullible right wing masses, and I wish Farrow would have exposed it for what it was.

On edit:
I love TYT, thanx for posting.

Insane walking out with a black powder musket. I can't believe these people could ever get elected.
