Papantonio: Did Police Blow Chance of Conviction With Zimmerman? - Bad Forensics

Mike Papantonio talks with Ed Schultz about how the NRA and gun manufacturers are benefiting big time due to the increased prevalence of “Stand Your Ground” type laws – the same law that allowed Trayvon Martin to be murdered.

of the NRA/gun industry (first few minutes) is especially telling. He reminds us that the gun-making business is a major profit generator in the US, and every time a new law expanding gun-"rights" is passed, sales of guns skyrocket.

(Mike is a gun owner with concealed carry license, BTW.)

Up until the moment of the shooting Zimmerman was a "responsible" gun owner. It's bullshit. Mike, your words are diminished until you "man up" and get rid of your guns.

Some people have very good reasons for having a gun. If you all want to change the 2nd amendment you have to do more than the waving finger on your emoticon.

AND there's probably no evidence from neighbors/witnesses to the events at this point. zimmerman will walk (IF he's ever charged.)

Even under the new law, Zimmerman's belief in Trayvon's threat to him has to have been "reasonable."

The most likely outcome is that Zimmerman's lawyer will not put Zimmerman on the stand. That is when the forensic evidence will become important. One important piece of evidence might be the earphones that Trayvon was supposed to have been wearing. Also the testimony of the girl with whom Trayvon was talking. I feel sorry for her because she is going to face a barrage of tricky questions.

Trayvon's body may yet reveal useful facts. The kinds of injuries Trayvon had might indicate whether he was attacked from behind. If Trayvon attacked Zimmerman and had the upper hand, then Trayvon's body will, it seems to me, have slightly different injuries than it would have if Zimmerman attacked Trayvon and then Trayvon got the upper hand at some point.

The policeman involved in this matter should all be fired, every last one of them, for neglect of their duty. Their records should be reviewed for any indication of racial discrimination and any connections with Zimmerman.
