Thom Hartmann: Antioch College to run on green energy

Mark Roosevelt, Antioch College, joins Thom Hartmann. Could a small college in Ohio hold the secrets to putting energy production and distribution in the hands of towns - communities and even neighborhoods?

My husband went to Antioch in Yellow Springs and we're going to an Antioch College gathering in Pasadena this Sunday. I suspect we'll hear more about this then. But seeing Thom on "Russia Today" is a shocker and took the wind right out of my sails. Happy about Antioch though.

So disappointing, but not surprising.

He has great segments too. Far more left wing than anyone you're likely to find on MSNBC.

When I see one country, with a history of attacking countries without cause, criticizing another country for doing the same...I just can't be bothered to give much of a shit. We don't have any moral high ground here.

Like Russia though, we have our own propaganda networks like Fox or CNN. And considering how we treated whistleblowers like Manning and Snowden, I'd be more than a little hesitant before talking about how we respectfully treat the people who speak truth to power. And I haven't even talked about our "enhanced interrogation techniques".

At least RT actually provides solid news beyond its Russian topics.

Small colleges are the best field to seed to push green technologies and a sustainable future: young, open minds dedicated to building better future, liberal minded faculty and (in Antioch's case) supportive campus administration.

President Roosevelt described it well: Being a long term institution, they can plan for a return on investment over the next 50 years despite the initial high price tag. Being small, and generally alumni supported (rather than corporate supported) they can avoid the pitfalls moneyed (fossil fuel) interests.
