So I will gladly R&K this.

She's pretty awesome.

Here's her Wiki: Maysoon Zayid.

On edit: Wow! That is one helluva clip!

This video is making the rounds in the family. Our awareness of the issues she raises have been at the front of our consciousness since my nephew was diagnosed with CP and epilepsy over thirty years ago. He found theater several years back and has appeared in numerous local productions; his status as an audience favorite is testimony to the rigorous effort he must employ in order to learn his lines and blocking. He is also a licensed CNA and works with kids with cancer and disabilities. Knowing the painful struggles he has endured his whole life I had to ask him, when he came out as gay, if he'd just woken up one morning and decided that his life wasn't nearly hard enough. He put his head back and laughed, then gave me a hug. Then we went back to figuring out how to rig his rod and reel when he comes to Colorado to go fishing with me.

That's one of the many reasons I was a rabid Countdown fan. Keith had a deep and highly developed appreciation and sense of humor. It was always delightful when she was a guest on his show. They really seemed to like each other. Same with Sarah SIlverman.

At about 9:50 Masoon talks about her BIG BREAK, guesting on Countdown with Keith Olbermann. She thought she blew it, but Keith not only brought her back, he made her a regular contributor!

That made me cry as much when I think about my wife of 23 years, who I lost to cancer last October.

Your tears are a tribute to her and all she meant to you. Hope you don't mind if I share a poem posted by a fellow DUer awhile back. Really resonates with me. Oh, and I share your opinion of Keith--awesome indeed.

ASCENSION

And if I go while you’re still here,
Know that I live on, vibrating to a different measure
Behind a thin veil you cannot see through.
You will not see me, so you must have faith.
I wait for the time when we can soar together again,
Both aware of each other.
Until then, live your life to the fullest—
And, when you need me, just whisper my name in your heart.
I will be there.

I hope these were more tears of bittersweet joy, than sadness. My brother lost his wife a few years back and it was very difficult to get along without her. They had been married for about 40 yrs.
