This was the big topic on local right wing radio today. Of course they completely twisted the facts before presenting it on the radio

(15,189 posts)Since many children have different religious beliefs, there will be no more milk served, ice cream, pepperoni pizza, hamburgers, grilled cheese, or any other food that "may" offend any student or their whinny parents who started this whole mess. Tuna for everyone, and not just on Fridays.

(32,723 posts)It has been alleged this week that a kindergartener, a five year old whose name is not being released to the press, was told she was not allowed to pray over her lunch at her schools cafeteria. At least, that is her claim, and the claim of her family. Was this kindergartener told to stop praying in school, or is the story a publicity stunt by her father, who is actively promoting a book titled God Less America: Real Stories from the Front Lines of the Attack on Traditional Values as part of his job duties as Vice President of Sales at a Christian book company?

(15,774 posts)a school nurse, the majority in elementary AND raised a child of my own, I take some of what these kids say with a grain of salt. It is not that they are lying, it is just that they process things through a 5 yo little filter. Things may be new or confusing to them so they try to intemperate things together to understand it better.
I never got my knickers in a wad. One time when my daughter told me something disturbing about a child being laughed at in PE (it really upset her). I was rather low keyed and ask the principal to check into it. She called back in a few hours and sure enough, my daughter had misinterpreted the incident but the principal was kind and talked to my daughter to ask her questions and let her know that she (the principal) was glad she was concerned about the incident. The principal spoke to the PE teachers and things were resolved.
When she came home, she was so happy (she has a very empathetic nature).
