Related: About this forumThom Hartmann: Climate deniers using same tactics as tobacco industry
A new report published by the conservative think thank the Heartland Institute says that climate change is nothing to worry about. Who's behind this report? And why does the climate denial machine seem an awful lot like the cancer denial machine created by the tobacco industry in the 1990's?

(41,867 posts)Had on a Climate Denier on who said he had all kinds of fact, that it was all a scam and that Democrats were out to scare people for some reason or another. It was laughable, but the cool thing was all these listeners called in and called this guy out as a Republican connected to Michele Bachmann.. and that pretty much killed it right there. No matter what he said, no one was buying it and Nori kept saying, "well we have to give people a chance to express their views on this subject".
This was at a time my computer was down and I had to listen to the radio for something to do. I used to like Coast to Coast Am but can't stand George Nori's politics.

(2,073 posts)that it would have been interesting if Thom Hartmann had juxtaposed clips of the same bogus scientists then, testifying in favor of the tobacco industry, and now, denying the threat of climate change. But that would have lengthened this video considerably, and he was probably under time constraints. But it would be interesting to see, in a future documentary about climate change, video clips of the same jokers both then and now.
