Photos: Tiananmen Protesters Were Heartbreakingly Young, Earnest, and Happy

It could happen here ! ( and I do not mean "red communism" but our own homegrown USA authoritarian mutation leading to even greater and bolder suppression than any of our history or now )

According to an official government account, they chanted: "Long live democracy!" and "oppose dictatorship!"

The protesters called for government accountability, freedom of the press, freedom of speech, and the restoration of workers' control over industry
At the height of the protests, about a million people assembled in the Square !!

It was hard looking at those pictures. All that exuberance and hope. And then the quashing of it all at the point of a gun. The whole world wanted the students to succeed. Because if they did, maybe there'd be hope for us all.

- Thank you for reminding me. Lest we forget them and their sacrifice......
