as well.

Legalization of cannabis may now be a "low hanging fruit" in some areas of the nation but not necessarily in others.

When someone of Clinton's stature does come out in support of any of those issues, the last thing that I believe we should do is form a circular firing squad.

efficacy would be worse than to deny climate change.

No, he's picking this fruit with a very calculated agenda in my opinion.

I've noticed a large increase in the talk about legalization from politicians but it is nearly always qualified by the centrists with the "medical" descriptor. That is intentional I believe. they rarely ever mention anything beyond that at all. They see it slipping from their grasp, but are clinging to control and the maintenance of the drug war by keeping cannabis illegal except by prescription. Most of them would be much happier if they had a pill to point to made from some extract of cannabis while they keep the rest illegal. They loves the drug war, they just seem to be acknowledging that they have to give something to keep the rest when it comes to control.

I was called stupid for believing this, but I'm so stupid I'm doubling down on it here as well, because I fully believe it. Maybe President Clinton is slightly more open than others, but I actually sort of fear a stop in progress toward full legalization if states start accepting medical. I think there will be a placating rush for medical in order to appease but ultimately stop progress.

the states, as a democratic laboratory.

He obviously knows that Colorado and Washington have legalized it and made no exception to them, he even joked about "Rocky Mountain High."

I know Clinton parses his words and I also know it wasn't Hillary speaking and I'm not saying this is a slam dunk but overall I view it as a positive.

As for "low hanging fruit" there are still places in the nation that believe medical marijuana should be taboo, I believe they're declining but it's still a force to be reckoned with, particularly for people living in those areas.

mislabeled President Clinton's response. It doesn't change my opinion in general, however, that medical is a double edged sword.

around issues, not a platform.

I always considered "states rights" a dog whistle for racism because that is how it was used historically, at least by national politicians. Lately--like the last several weeks, in fact--I have been coming around enough to overcome that. And people a lot more liberal than I have been saying for a long time "act locally."

I wonder if Bill will be the standard-bearer for pronouncements like this - after all, he doesn't have to actually do anything about them, since he is not running for office.

reasonable regulation similar to alcohol, I guess I could live with that if that's what it takes to change the culture and the narrative, provided people can grow their own without fear or DEA attacks, but medical makes me nervous when it only addresses a fraction of the problems of prohibition.

Legalization is the issue, and he is still talking Medical.Too little to late.

States as "Laboratories of Democracy". Oh Brother...spare me.He is deflecting from the issue that we want addressed by Hillary...and that is legalization at the Federal level.Every state in the union can legalize, but if it isn't done at the federal; level, the dogs of the DEA will still be intimidating people, throwing them in jail and interfering with the people right to choose.I'll state it again.I DO NOT like Hillary,I think she is just another corporate hack.

She was interviewed by the NYDaily news recently :Clinton told Amanpour that she supported allowing medical marijuana use for people “in extreme medical conditions” and was open to seeing recreational use legalized

So out of one side of her mouth she says: “in extreme medical conditions” and then out of the other side of her mouth she says and was open to seeing recreational use legalized.

Then again she gathers up all her courage and states “On recreational, you know states are the laboratories of democracy,” Clinton said, referring to Washington and Colorado. “We have at least two states that are experimenting with that right now. I want to wait and see what the evidence is.”

Wow.It's really great to know that she can take a stand on an issue.<sarcasm>
