. . . Conducting is not merely waving one's arms in front of an orchestra, how ever entertaining that might be. Look, I loved Sen. Kennedy as much as anyone, but as a classically trained musician, the Senator's gesticulations are a non-musician's parody of conducting. Kennedy's gestures, for the most part, bear little if any relationship to the music. (Frankly, the Boston Pops could play "Stars & Stripes" in its sleep, with or without a conductor.)

I'm a musician myself (not a conductor though) and appreciated him generally speaking.

We'll never see the likes of Sen. Kennedy again sadly. He was the great lion that indeed knew how to roar and then some! I believe that he was capable of doing almost anything he tried to do. Just looking at his long career tells us this.

Cuts through the waxy buildup of my cynicism and disillusionment and reminds me of my former idealistic self.

(Amazing number of recognizable faces in the audience.)

He had a different personality than Jack and Bobby (though not principles) and one thing I never doubted about him was his love for his family and his country. Watching this makes me miss him.
