Papantonio: Jesus Was NOT A Republican

The Republican Party likes to hide behind the Bible when they oppress portions of the American population, but the truth is that Jesus Christ has absolutely nothing in common with today’s Republican Party.

Ring of Fire's Mike Papantonio explains why Jesus would certainly NOT be a Republican, with Frank Schaeffer, author of the new book “Why I Am an Atheist Who Believes In God.”

1. And Frank Schaeffer is NOT an atheist.

He adheres to Greek Orthodoxy.

Calling himself an atheist is ridiculous.

On edit: I like Frank Schaeffer, but I do not like his premise, that an atheist can believe in any god.

4. I think what he was saying is that he doesn't believe in a structured church.

That is his atheist part. He does believe in God that is his religious part and he doesn't deny it. The title of the book I suspect is meant to be ambiguous to sell more books.

I didn't think he was trying to fool anyone, at least not during this interview.

7. Do you think he was actually trying to make people believe he is an atheist?

I didn't get that impression. I got the impression he didn't think much of structured churches but put a lot of faith in Jesus.

Perhaps it was a play on the word because atheism is a belief system and many of the people going to churches don't worship the God they pretend to worship but do have other beliefs that in reality are not worship of a God.

Or a troll.

Either way, it's not a book I would read, in spite of the fact that I have nothing against Frank Schaeffer. Why would anybody want their book to have that title? It is LAME.

I am sure those who believe in structured religion would define him as an atheist.

on the head. Jesus would have wanted to visit and care for every person in the towns that he lived in and along the roads that he walked. He made news! Think of the miracles, the love, the promise of life in Heaven.
The Bible says that at the instant that Christ gave up His ghost, that all Hell broke lose on Earth with familiar spirits, demons, etc. The darkness was frightening. Who stayed out and as near as possible to the body of Christ, having no fear? Women, who loved Christ as their Savior. It is my favorite Bible story.

I think this is a fascinating piece.

Frank Schaeffer is telling us that he is no longer into "organized religion" and he is telling us that young people are rejecting organized religion. On this I am with him 100%.

The organization, in organized religion, only exists to funnel money to those at the top, those in a position of authority.
