(10,650 posts)Everyone knows the Israelis never kill innocent people unless they are forced to.

Sad really.

(5,027 posts)In the actual cockpit transmission from the D-9 bulldozer driver to the watch tower, the driver is asked "Did you see him?" and responds "Yes I saw him, I think he is dead."

(10,650 posts)I also have no doubt the driver was representative of way too many Israelis.

(1,648 posts)Reality: They may have thought she was a Palestinian and of course that's ok...or the driver was told to "get the job done". We'll never know, but we will know that the statement above by the Israelis is far far from the truth. Sad to be sure, but a reality check in case one thinks the propaganda strewn all over the place is correct.

(10,650 posts)The US gave the Israelis a free pass on murdering a US citizen, and not the first time either.

(31,493 posts)I went from "Israel is under siege and has to defend themselves" to "Both sides are bad". And that was before their current batch of war crimes.

They don't bother to differentiate between civilians and terrorists.

(3,425 posts)It REALLY puts things in moral perspective on this issue where people don't know where to side.
I think the IDF (Israeli "defense" forces) said they ran over her because they *thought* she was a Palestinian girl...ah, yes, that would be OK to do.
She was protecting Palestinian land where the UN has ORDERED Israel not to be...they (Israel) are supposed to go back to the pre-1967 borders.
I can't believe the media did not play this story over and over and over...after all, a little AMERICAN girl was murdered in cold blood.

(5,027 posts)"We have seen photographs of memorials held in Gaza after Rachel's death in which Palestinian children and adults honor our daughter by carrying a mock coffin draped with the American flag. We have been told that our flag has never been treated so respectfully in Gaza in recent years. We believe Rachel brought a different face of the United States to the Palestinian people, a face of compassion."

(12,401 posts)Harry Potter years in between films.
Since HP, he has been in several projects including The Butler, where he played Ronald Reagan, and CBGB, a true story of the punk rock club, and a couple more not so memorable.
He just finished directing a film starring Kate Winslet, a period piece where he plays Louis XIV, long curly wig, tights and all. It opens this month at the Toronto film festival, I think? It is called A Little Chaos.
Rachel Cory was blackballed in some heavily populated Jewish cities... Miami for one... but largely because the play was misunderstood. It is not political in nature, but rather a poignant story based on the journal she kept.
AR is known for tackling independent projects that "get people to start a conversation". Liberal trouble maker, lol.

(8,170 posts)Justifying one murder with another. Oh, in case you were not aware Rachel Corrie was the American killed, many Palestinians died in the same way including the elderly buried alive inside their homes.

(3,425 posts)and our massive retaliation consisted of....nothing.
The attack went on for hours, the ship was sending radio distress calls, identifying as a US Navy ship, and was flying US Navy colors.
They said it was a "mistake" but it went on for hours.
Israel has never been held accountable for this horrific attack and the deaths of the US servicemen. They seem to get a free pass to bomb US Navy ships and bulldoze US teenage girls (and, of course, slaughter and genocide against the Palestinians) as well as ignoring UN Security Council resolutions (They have been in continuous violation of UN SC resolution #242 for nearly 50 years)
freebrew
(1,917 posts)Israel first attempted to blame the Palestinians for the attack, thinking it would force the hand of the US to get more involved.
I've seen no mention of that on the interwebs, though.
