6. Not Trying To Be Pessimistic - There are Reasons For Optimism - As Individuals - Just Not For All

I have found the writings of the Arch Druid Report to be the most succinct, insightful and hopeful about the future that awaits the world after oil.

The blog posts go back to 2006 - So there is much, much, much to absorb and ponder.

7. It's more about the certainty of greed and a loss of sensibility and clarity to do what is right,

there really is a money trail to all that is wrong, and no signs pointing to change in dealing with it, not so far as leadership is concerned, not with how our system "works", revolving door & all, and corporate rule.

I'll check out that site. TY.

After oil, is when we do the right thing, because that's the only avenue left. We see it all coming, and we know why, and the disconnect continues. As climate change and disaster grow, so will the discussion.

8. I See No Hope For Reforming The US Democratic Model - The National Entrenched Interests Have Won
Sun Sep 7, 2014, 03:46 PM
Sep 2014

As I have posted at DU often,

The Oligarchs, Corporations and Banks own and control the Politicians that own and control US.

I see nothing changing that sentiment or dynamic any time soon.

The oligarchs, corporations and banks will run the system into the ground - catabolic collapse - the oil has run out.

Once pummeled to dust, the system fails and we begin the rebuilding process.

Many will not survive. The question is what do those that do survive do to rebuild?

That is what the Arch Druid Report is all about - the future after the collapse.

2. Those with power (and the money commensurate with power)

are determined to vilify every 'alternative' to capitalism we've imagined thus far, and any that are possible in our future. Capitalism is the most effective means for concentrating all wealth into the hands of these corporate megalomaniacs, fewer in number than four hundred and vastly more wealthy than most average humans can imagine.

9. This is the classic game of The Prisoner's Delima

Also known as The Defection vs Cooperation game. If we leave it up to the individuals or the individual countries we will have massive defections and fail. (A large portion of) the countries must agree within themselves (or the leaders must agree) and then among themselves to beat this problem in a united way. There's no way a relatively insignificant portion of the world's population can solve this problem.

Pressured to provide short-term solutions to ameliorate the masses.

Short-term gain for long-term pain - ultimately catabolic collapse - the oil runs out.

That this is where we are headed has been recently reviewed and validated once again.
