to grow up to be cruel, maladjusted adults. Exhibit A: Sean Hannity.

No thanks to Hannity's old man for giving the world his nasty, fucked-up son.

Because from what he said he was deeply effected by that punishment he received as a kid.
His anger is apparent and it comes from those beatings as a kid...IMO.

You know, you may have hit on a great idea there: A new, ultra-effective approach for getting parents to not beat their children.

"FIND A NON-VIOLENT WAY TO RAISE YOUR CHILD... or he could grow up to be the next Sean Hannity."

It would work in progressive households, at least.

Aren't both these players being accused of abuse black? According to Faux, they should be guilty because "those people" usually are.

And I think Hannity's father went over the line way more than once. I almost feel sorry for him. But, I think even people who have been abused and Hannity was abused (not just spanked which is also wrong, but different in degree)however he still is accountable when he tries to run interference for someone who battered their child.

he deserves to get punched in the face every day! Obviously it didn't work on him, however I would like to volunteer to discipline Hannity like his father did.

When he said that, I was thinking, someone needs to punch him in the face again.. along with a few of his buddies, like Limbaugh..etc.

funny.

The saddest part is his insistence that he deserved it. Very sad.

These kids are religiously homeschooled, so the physical and emotional damage that is inflicted by the authoritarian parents are better hidden from prying eyes.

It was the standard method of punishing a child.

Once when I was about 15, My father beat me with his belt and left huge black and blue marks across my thighs that went down to my knees. The next day I was in gym class and had to wear shorts. The gym teacher saw the marks and asked what had happened, I told her I fell. She laughed and made a joke about it. "You must have bounced because there are so many marks on your legs," she said laughing while all the kids around me laughed at me too. Moral of this story, getting beaten black and blue as a child was A OK by everyone's standards.

You feel like it was your fault when you are beaten. You think there is something so terribly awful about you that requires great pain to control.

I have 2 very healthy happy grown children and I refused to beat them. I knew how awful and belittling beatings were and I vowed I would never do it to my own children. My husband agreed with me.

To this day, I still have nightmares about my father beating me. So, if you want to be the monster in your child's nightmares for as long as that child lives, go ahead, beat your children. As for me, I'd rather be their hero.
