One needs many stories from different perspectives, or the reader/viewer will be led astray...not unlike our corporate media...

we often hear the phrase: There are two sides to every story. I would posit there are often more than two sides to every story, and many stories to every situation... not just places. It is easy to dehumanize when we allow ourselves to hear only one side of a single story.
I always enjoy hearing Chimamanda speak.

... there are as many "sides" to a story as there are people who know the story, because every person views things differently, even if only slightly.
