I said this ad "sounds" like they are running scared.

It won't work like so many of our ads. It's soft. It's getting trashed for that reason.

This may very well be the last election where "male, pale, and stale" rules the ballot boxes. The shifts are already being seen in some of the swing states and parts of the south.

The GOP would already be out of business without it. The House election is essentially rigged, and there's little chance that it will be taken in the next couple of cycles. Maybe by 2020.

They say you can indict a ham sandwich, but you can say and do awful things while being a Repuke... BUT BETCHA you usually get elected or RE-elected! Doesn't make much sense, but I've seen it too many times!

Some, (probably all) of the "republicans" in that ad are stock photos.

laughed at people who drove Prius cars, liked gourmet cooking, and the other things mentioned in that ad. Now they have made so many people into the "other" that they are running scared. They have no one left but old, white men.

It's been an excellent marketing campaign. The idea that those who steal from workers or pensions or bank accounts "are just playing the game" (i.e. doing whatever it takes to get rich) and somehow deserve not only their lavish lifestyle but our praise and deference is a concept that has been heavily marketed since Reagan. It has turned us into a grasping, corrupt country. My European friends remark all the time about how in the US, it's all about the money--for everything. And they're correct.

It shows the repub mindset because it implies persecution, in that someone else, most likely a liberal, is trying to guilt her out of enjoying her riches. Just about every repub I know feels persecuted in some way.

...for the last four decades or so. At least back in the day, they seemed to be more skillful about hiding their true intentions.

Now, they're coming right out and saying it, without regard to nuance. They aren't hiding anything with ham-fisted bullshit like this ad.

I don't think that's what the poster was saying.

Perhaps this is a good breakdown:

A.) People who vote Republican are generally stupid assholes (I'll go along with that )
B.) This ad features a guy with tattoos and a beard insinuating that people with beards and tattoos vote Republican
C.) Therefore, the poster correctly pointed out that it isn't impressive that even people with beards and tattoos can be stupid assholes.

I don't think that the poster was insinuating that people with tattoos and beards were stupid assholes. Just that Republicans are and they can look like anything and still be stupid assholes.
