One of them is that in a good economy there is less impetus to join the military and fight for the oligarchs.

(65 posts)Because that was what it was - pure PR. Is she rolling in directing our smart bombs? I doubt it. Oh and by the way Fox didn't degrade that pilot. They degraded themselves. And the "joke" is infamous, not famous. Does there exist anywhere, legitimate reporting that details the combat forces that Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar and Iran are bringing to the party?
And here's a question - If we are at war with ISIS, are we also at war with those that fund them?
And here's another one - Ostensibly ISIS are self funded by refineries that they have captured. Who's buying their petroleum products in a tightly controlled global petro market? Who is providing the technical know how to run the refineries. So a rabble of yahoos in Toyota pick-ups charge in (with American weaponry) and voila! Millions of $$$ to fund mayhem! We are being played people. Wake the fuck up!

(57,936 posts)These are the questions we should be asking. Thanks. Very thoughtful.
Bernie Sanders asks these kinds of questions. I think he could appeal to a wide spectrum of Americans -- not just Democrats. His stance on the Federal Reserve and his statements about the use of the bail-out money also appeal to a wide spectrum of Americans. Bernie could have a very surprising showing should he decide to run. If he runs and Elizabeth Warren stays out, I will support Bernie Sanders.

(57,936 posts)fighting ISIS. Bombing missions are one thing. Fighting in combat is another. It's always our sons and daughters who fight these wars. Why? Some Europeans fight with us. But people who live in the Middle East should either fight for their countries or decide to give in to whoever decides to bully them. Of course, Saudi Arabia is one of the worst dictatorships in the world in some respects. But then . . . .

(57,936 posts)I believe Bernie will attract a lot of support as he continues to speak to national issues.
He is just so right, and the vast majority of politicians are just so wrong about what issues Americans care about.
And Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern nations should be putting their kids on the ground in Iraq and Syria. We should not be doing that.
