"Republican Dan Sullivan won Alaska's U.S. Senate race, defeating first-term incumbent Democrat Mark Begich.
Sullivan led Begich by about 8,100 votes on Election Night last week and held a comparable edge after election workers had counted about 20,000 absentee, early-voted and questioned ballots late Tuesday. Thousands more ballots remained to be counted, but the results indicated that Begich could not overcome Sullivan's lead.
The Alaska seat was initially considered key to the Republicans' hopes of taking control of the U.S. Senate, but that goal was accomplished
before the Alaska race was decided."* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down.

(14,177 posts)1. The next two years are going to be interesting...
I think we will see a rise in ballot initiatives. And if Democrats are smart they will start working with their constituents a lot more closely on the big issues, health care, minimum wages, lowering interest rates on student loans, and shoring up the safety net.

This ain't pretty...and all the while the planet keeps getting warmer and the Rethugs closer to stamping out any democratic programs...so I wouldn't use the term "interesting", but rather "scary".

He started his new job with the lobbying firm before his term was even up.
