Berkeley in the Sixties - documentary (1990)

A fascinating look at the birth of the counter culture. A generation of Americans told that the Constitution and exceptional ism make America the greatest country on earth set out to MAKE America the greatest country on earth. What America could be goes to battle with the America that is (was).

How many of our fellow protesters in 1970 voted for Reagan in 1980?

To me, the sixties represent a lot of unfinished business. There were more than a few of us who tried to finish it off in its childhood.

jury announcement tonight? If so it gives me both hope and a feeling of fear for the protesters. It clearly shows that violence is not the answer.

Thank you for posting.

and found this on YouTube. I had seen it in 1990 and remembered that it had a lot of 'truth is stranger than fiction' twists and turns. I think it combines footage and stills from the events with the participants' analysis from 25 years later to great effect. Glad you like it.

Born and raised in the East Bay and I remember most of this quite well as my Dad worked in Berkeley at this particular time. *cough*.

These were indeed unique times to live in -- not always great but at time absolutely spectacular and speechless you'd find yourself to be.

May People's Park RIP!!!

& recommend.
