Demand an expansion of Social Security benefits and services!

https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/demandnocuts

Incoming Republican majorities in Congress represent a real threat to the future of Social Security. We can’t let Republicans, or anybody, take away our earned benefits in order to give tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires.

That is why we are rallying the American people to not only demand no cuts, but demand an expansion of benefits and services.

Please, stand with Social Security Works today to protect the future of Social Security!

The incoming Republican majorities in Congress represent a real threat to the future of Social Security.

For the last four years, Republicans in Washington have underfunded the Social Security Administration to the tune of $2.7 billion resulting in the closures of 80 Social Security field offices and 500 contact stations across the country. They are attempting to undermine our Social Security system through a depletion of services.

And when Republicans take control of Congress in January, they will push for a further reduction of services and deep cuts to earned benefits.

This past week, Social Security Works held a forum in Washington, DC to mobilize against this looming threat. At the meeting, Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-MD), chairwoman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, said, “We need to organize and we need to mobilize and we have to stop agonizing.” And we have to move NOW.

Watch Senator Mikulski fire up Social Security supporters and donate to Social Security Works today as we prepare to take on a Republican Congress that is determined to cut Social Security and further reduce our services.

The only way Republicans will get the message is if we rally the American people and not only demand no cuts, but demand an expansion of benefits and services. Remember: Social Security is the most popular government run program in the history of the United States. It has a $2.7 trillion surplus and has never contributed one penny to the deficit because it is independently funded by the FICA payroll tax.

Donate today to rally the American people and protect the future of Social Security: https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/demandnocuts

86 percent of Americans, according to our latest polling, want either the same or more Social Security offices in the future. We must make our voices heard. We must increase benefits, open new offices, extend hours and give the front line staff the resources they need to deliver world class service. We can't let the Republican Congress, or anyone else, take away our earned benefits in order to give tax cuts to the billionaires and millionaires.

We have a real fight on our hands, but with the American people behind us, we can stop Republican cuts to Social Security and continue advancing our message of expanding benefits and services.

Thank you for standing with us at this critical moment.

If we DEMANDED they lift the cap, we could fund the program AND give raises to the people who need more.

For instance, NOBODY on Soc Sec should have to pay federal income taxes on that income...

If you means test any part of it you create potential harm so this would apply across the board.

But LIFT THE CAP

We need to ask where the individuals are that did not vote in this last election and we need to ask why did you vote these right wing hypocrites into office--why?
And if you are a republican you deserve what you get----you deserve nothing, you are giving these hypocrites a right to attack our paid safety net---why?
I and a lot of us our paying our dues , and I am helping my society ---why did you do this to me and others are you that self centered?
A lot of these people are republicans collecting social security why do or did you vote against your self interest and everyone else's, what were you thinking that the only thing these right wingers were going to do was cut taxes, they were coming after you, and what you paid into social security and other programs, they DO NOT CARE and THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU--are you really that are stupid, I mean really are you that stupid, that you voted these hypocrites into office for this incoming 2015-2016 debacle.
Just think if there is a vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court

Americans support SS, yet 50% of politicians want to kill it and send OUR MONEY to Wall Street or other one per-center's! We need Publicly Funded Elections to put a stop to the bribing of our politicians. At least support Bernie Sanders through the Primary and see if he wins it. If not, then support who ever won on the Democratic side. Bernie wants Publicly Funded Elections and to put an end to campaign donations as well as the "Revolving Door."
He can make this an issue which it needs to be. I understand that he cannot enact this as POTUS, but he could use the Bully Pulpit to great effect! Even brainwashed Libertarians don't want George Soros to buy a politician!
Somethings got to give and I don't want it to be America's future or the future of the planet! We all know there will not be enough done to prevent the worst from Climate Change if we continue to elect our Representatives the way that we have. Couple that with the oligarchies in the media and banking that need to be broken up to stop their ability to protect the interests of the wealthy and delude much of the populous into voting against their own interests.

Why do so many seniors vote Republican? Reminds me of an encounter Tip O Neal had with a constituent. This person had a complaint about some benefit cuts. Tip said it was President Regan who was responsible. The person said o no the President wouldn't do that to me. Old people tend to feel it is some one else the cuts will apply to not them.
