Apple Releases New Holiday Ad 'The Song' (OS cried his eyes out during the new commercial)

This was my parents song.

They married in August of 1945. Dad came home from the WWII early on service points.

This commercial brought back so many old and forgotten memories!

OS

Lyrics: "Love Is Here To Stay"

It's very clear
Our love is here to stay
Not for a year, but forever and a day

The radio
And the telephone
And the movies that we know
May just be passing fancies and in time may go

But oh my dear
Our love is here to stay
Together we're going a long long way

In time the Rockies may crumble
Gibraltar may tumble
They're only made of clay
But our love is here to stay

Apple today released a new 90-second holiday ad entitled "The Song", following in the footsteps of last year's "Misunderstood" ad.

"The Song" centers around a girl who stumbles upon an old record, apparently a gift from her grandmother to her grandfather from 1952. The record includes a message about not being able to be together for the holidays and then a rendition of "Love Is Here to Stay" sung by the grandmother.

Upon finding the old record, the girl secretly learns the tune's vocals and puts together her own accompaniment on several instruments, eventually recording her own portions of the song alongside her grandmother's. The girl then leaves an iPad mini with a note saying "A Duet, Press Play" for her grandmother, who listens to the duet between her much younger self and her granddaughter, bringing her to tears as she looks through the old photographs left along with the iPad by the iPad by the girl.

Another great ad (film) for Christmas. I love Apple's films. Their ads are sometimes good also. LiberalArkie Dec 2014 #6

Our love is here to stay. So true for so many of us. And aren't we the lucky ones!

I wish that everyone on DU who is alone for whatever reason will find a love that is here to stay over the course of the coming year. Love is what makes life worth it.

You can love your friends, your dog, your students, your patients, your clients, you can find someone to love. I hope you do, all of you.

My wife and I saw the commercial, while watching our beloved but beleaguered Detroit Lions scrap out a win yesterday. She is a football maniac. The only thing she wanted for our 41st wedding anniversary was a win by her team. That piece came on.... We sat and watched....our toes touching on the sofa, gazed into each other's eyes and with tears welling, mouthed an "I love you" to each other.

She received her gift... The Lions won.

Now for another 41 years.
