Failed at many endeavors before becoming commander of Union Forces....graduated 21st out of 39 from his West Point Class; resigned from the military in the 1950's due to disorderly/drunkenness......his career then led him to fail in several business ventures before rejoining the military at the beginning of the Civil War.

A mistake only becomes a failure if one does not learn from it - when one learns from it, it becomes an opportunity and an experience.

Especially when it's a good thing! (Canadian rock bands don't get anywhere NEAR the acclaim they deserve!)
