(38,316 posts)Star Wars is a space opera.
But Abrams is clueless about Star Trek. He made a generic space opera using the Star Trek characters. Bah. I don't think either of Abram's Star Trek movies respected the Star Trek Universe.
I ignore them entirely as a temporal anomaly or holodeck training simulation in The Next Generation universe, the same way I ignore the last "These are the Voyages" episode of Star Trek: Enterprise.

I met and chatted with Roddenberry once upon a time, and he seemed quite the decent fellow, like the universe he created.
Thanks, Archae, for the reminder.
