TYT: For-Profit College Caught Hiring Strippers

"At its peak, Miami-based FastTrain College had grown to seven Florida campuses. It had ties to a sitting U.S. congressman. It was raking in millions of dollars.

The TV and radio ads for FastTrain promoted computer and medical career training, which the school promised would lead to a better life.

“Get on the Fast Train!” sang the company’s catchy jingle.

And it was all a criminal conspiracy, according to a federal indictment released. FastTrain’s specialty, prosecutors say, was defrauding the government — while coaching students to lie on federal financial aid forms."

This is a commonly held myth -- that you have to have a high school diploma to go to college. You don't. Plain and simple. If you are still a minor, you might have to get approval from the local school district.

Myself with a BS, my wife with an MSW, innumerable friends with masters degrees or doctorates... none of us have high school diplomas.

But the "for profit" school scam? Right on the money. I taught a semester at an ITT Tech, and it was purely a mill to get as much in grants and subsidized loans from the government as possible. Students, some of whom never even bothered to show up, were coddled until they had been there long enough to not have their Pell grants revoked. Ugh.
