(16,230 posts)How is that OK?
(Yes, I know. It's a stupid slur. But it's their intention that counts, not the fact that the slur is weak.)

(16,230 posts)It may have been used a few times in a speech denouncing Republicans but Democratic politicians and spokespersons don't go around on a daily basis refusing to use the actual name of the Republican party. I almost wish they would, but they don't.
Republicans do it as a matter of course.

(12,547 posts)Democrat and Party are both nouns. Nouns don't modify other nouns, adjectives modify nouns. The adjective Democratic is the proper use for modifying the noun Party.
Just more evidence of Rethug ignorance.

George W. Bush protected us from the terrorists!
Businesses can regulate themselves!
Government can't do anything right! (Actually, that one is true . . . whenever Republicans are in charge.)
Drill, baby, drill!

(6,829 posts)I remember Keith Olbermann covering a Bush speech, perhaps in the form of one of his wonderful SPECIAL COMMENTS:
"It's the DE-MO-CRA-TIC PARTY. Show a little respect!"
The Republicans use it as their cute little pejorative and I find it irksome. It also confirms the person using this phrase is a propaganda-laden shill that lies for a living, as most Nationally known Republicans do.
