You Can Believe the Senator With a Snowball or Every Major American Scientific Society
In this speech on the Senate floor, Sen. Whitehouse rebuts Sen. Inhofe's earlier speech on climate change.

(5,955 posts)Democrats don't do it on a regular basis. Republicans have gotten a LOT of mileage out of being shameless, and repeating the most ridiculous things in public with the understanding that Democrats would feel silly calling them on it. Jon Stewart has shown us that the best way to address this kind of shameless stupidity is with sarcasm.
Bring on the sarcasm!

(25,270 posts)I only read about it hear and see a video here on DU. The American People need to see this on the 10 o'clock news so they can understand what type of nuts they elected.

That's part of the problem. The major networks are afraid they'll be accused of having a 'liberal bias,' even if all they do is SHOW some of the stupid things the Republicans are saying.

(25,270 posts)Lawrence O'Donnell? It's no wonder that the Repugs like Inhofe pull these stunts. We let them get away with them.
If a Dem did that - or if a Dem blew kisses like Boehner did today - along with saying "If ands and buts were candy and nuts - everyday would be Christmas" - the conservative tv and radio shows would be all over them wanting an apology or saying how disrespectful.
But when a Repug does these things - we let them get away with them and don't call them on it.

(2,066 posts)And maybe then they will understand that midterm elections really DO natter! I think that the reason why the major corporate news outlets have not called attention to "Senator Snowball"'s antics is that Senator Snowball and his ilk are in control of the government now, and are doing the bidding of the big oil corporations. And that's good enough for them. Negative publicity is reserved for those who stand up for what's right against the corporate powers that be, who fund the mainstream media.

Somebody better tell Senator Whitehouse that Nestle is a Swiss corporation, though.
Did Inhofe actually call snow in February "unseasonable?"

(30,058 posts)System is better than the dumb remarks and events put on by the GOP. I would have hoped some knowledge of female bodies would be known before we hear from a Republican of swallowing a camera in order to achieve a vaginal exam or Inhofe's snowball stunt but it seems that the dumb comes out.

If you don't believe the rise of sea levels is real, watch the rise in insurance rates on coastal properties.

(2,344 posts)look ridiculous. Inhoffe did this in a true genuine effort to appeal to Americans' belief there is no climate change. Why NOT publicize this from the Head of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee? Isn't this newsworthy? Sarcasm thingy.
GOP so protected in the media it's infuriating.

(2,066 posts)The corporate powers that be take care of their own. And I suppose that there is a definite pecking order of money and power within the corporate world. After all, global warming does indeed hurt the pocketbooks of insurance companies - but they rank lower on the totem pole than Big Oil, who have the most money and power of all. Money talks, and BS walks!
