... on the threat of methane as a trigger for the catastrophic extermination of most of life on Earth, including most of us. It's in the DU archives somewhere. I can't think of a crisis with more import and immediacy, can you?

I certainly don't have the recognition and exposure that Mr. Hartmann has, but the entire DU-niverse could make a LOT of noise if we pooled our resources and talents to drown out deniers and make people take this as seriously as we should. It is literally a matter of life and death. And I am usually very circumspect in my use of the word, "literally," but this time, it fits.

I am utterly and unceasingly amazed that the end of life on earth will be within the life times of young people that could even be reading this DU post right now and the entire planet doesn't give a fucking rats ass.

The only benefit to our obliviousness to climate change is that all the end times rapture second coming of Christ people will actually be able to finally enjoy the end of the world they've longed for, for so long.

On the bright side all those mansions, private planes, car elevators and all the other accoutrement's so loved by the .01% is such a worthwhile price to pay for the impending mass extinctions. That's the trade off.

About LAST HOURS

The film “Last Hours” describes a science-based climate scenario where a tipping point to runaway climate change is triggered by massive releases of frozen methane. Methane, a powerful greenhouse gas, has already started to percolate into the open seas and atmosphere from methane hydrate deposits beneath melting arctic ice, from the warming northern-hemisphere tundra, and from worldwide continental-shelf undersea methane pools.
