Man run over by taxi during altercation in Montreal. Graphic video warning.

http://www.ctv.ca/CTVNews/Canada/20120429/cab-driver-altercation-120429/

A 23-year-old man is in critical but stable condition in a Montreal hospital after being run over by a taxi cab during an altercation early Sunday morning.

The incident took place at the corner of St. Laurent Boulevard and Rachel Street around 4 a.m., when a fight broke out between a taxi driver and a group of people.

(snip)

The video shows a group of people approach the cab while it is at a standstill. One person appears to hit or kick the cab, while another throws an unknown object at it. The driver then reverses and drives through the crowd, narrowly missing at least two people.

Another man hops onto the roof of the cab but jumps off when it begins to move again. That's when the cab runs over the man.

1. I realize normally you don't blame the victim.

But I found the Taxi driver to be the main victim here. His car with him in it is getting trashed and these people are acting out. I think he should have continued driving until he got to a good distance and then called 911 which is what I hope happened. But these people were vandals and threatening. Unfortunately one of the people attacking got hurt.

This kid intentionally jumped in front of the cabbie as did the other kid who jumped from behind. I don't understand why they were doing that.

Who defended that man and his son about a year ago for savagely beating the old man during a traffic accident because they were able to?

Just asking.

9. I never heard of that story and what does that have to do with my post.

From the little that I have ascertained in your post about the case I would support the old man. The man and his son had no right to do this.

This Cab Driver should have just drove away and called Police if these People were assaulting him..
He did have that option...
Instead he goes for them with this Car... A Deadly Weapon..

I saw him trying to get away but they were throwing things from in front of him and in back of him. Further more the one he ran over was jumped on his car. The kid did not have to do that. He jumped on it the driver wasn't going after him. That can be clearly seen in the video. There was another guy who jumped on the car. He jumped and lost his footing the cab went over...I don't see the cabbie as intentionally trying to get that kid hurt.

The driver, a father, working night shift, low pay, high risks, gets angry...

Drunk vandals start throwing stuff, kicking door, jumping on roof...

Jungle.

Where has respect gone?
