I read that HBO hired 160 lawyers to vet this Sunday showing.

Even more interesting is a shorter video by Jason Beghe of Chicago PD. I believe he left the group in 2008. Very outspoken.
Also I have just finished the book by Jenna Miscavige Hill, niece of the present leader David Miscavige. Good reading.

(111,358 posts)He's not charming enough to be that much of a successful con man, lacks the sociopathic charisma it takes to keep fooling people into remaining in a cult. Miscavige is more interested in iron fisted control than in growing a huge movement. The more he clamps down, the more people leave.
This is a good thing.
Still, the second speech echoed a lot of the worst Irish Catholic stuff I grew up with. Somebody sprinkles water on your head when you're a defenseless infant, you're in the church not for a measly billion years, but for eternity, and the consequences of asking questions, let alone leaving, were all spelled out by Dante and fully described by sadistic nuns and priests.
Still, the most deadly enemy of any cult or even religion is that one first nagging little question.
Once questions are popping up to the surface, it's pretty much all over. They just seem to be popping up more quickly in $cientology than most others these days.
