(4,558 posts)This law is only for those of Kristian faith to be able to discriminate. It don't apply to nobody else.
*not that I think the disclaimer is needed here, but this is sarcasm*

(42,641 posts)But since I am not rich, and not likely to contribute to him when he runs for President, it is not likely he would see me. But if I could ask, I would say:
Governor, can you, or any legislator who voted for this law, cite any specific situation where someone would have a religious reason to not serve someone that is so compelling that the State of Indiana felt a law had to be passed to deal with it?
As a follow up Governor, what specific problem does this law address?

(3,795 posts)express their religious freedom.
What can they do NOW that they couldn't do before due to the passage of this law.
In effect, what has this law allowed to happen now in the name of "religious freedom" that wasn't allowed before.

(55,981 posts)If you can point at a person and decide they are gay and refuse service, then you could point at anyone you did't like, maybe Jews, Muslims, over weight people, red heads, and declare they are gay and justify discrimination.

(55,981 posts)"thought" they were gay. He just might think that all Muslims are gay. The law allows the owner to pick and choose who he thinks is gay and therefore refuse service. Who is going to confront him/her? "Sorry, I thought you looked gay."

(17,997 posts)By using the "gay" excuse. Sorry

(17,505 posts)Well, they'll just have to prove they are hetero. Maybe by having coitus in the parking lot.
But then..... how do religious people know that the guy with the wife and 3 kids doesn't have a boy toy on the side? Or that he didn't have a "youthful indiscretion" with his football coach or something.
Ooooh yeah.... that never happens....

(4,558 posts)They are fine with gays being relegated to cruising parks, or married men having a little on the side, or priests molesting children.. it's all good as long as it's kept in the Shadows.
What they can't stand is when gay couples actually want to dedicate their life to each other, build a family together, and build a home together... That does too much to destroy their preconceived notions and stereotypes of what gay is. The entire notion that GLBT's actually have the capability to fit into their weird notion of what "normal" is... that's what's unacceptable.

(17,215 posts)I guess laws are like computer games: instead of having it right on release, it needs to be patched even before it comes out.
It's not like you didn't have plenty of time to work on it, fools.

(581 posts)bill? Why do they actually need one? Is it nothing other than to discriminate against a minority? And none of the Governors can give a honest answer for the reason they signed the bill. It just another one of the hundreds of suppression bills the Republican governors have passed, Why don't all the Democratic governors have this bill if it is so important for religious freedom. I thought our Constitution protected religious freedom. All the churches and conservatives act like they are real free. Some even murder when it comes to abortions. Christians killing innocent because of there strong abortion dislikes. Trying to force their religious rights on to the nation.
Are we not free to decide if we want to join the killer Christians?

(581 posts)tried passing a law making going to church each Sunday mandatory. The radical female conservative did this during a hearing about making guns more open. The NRA and radicals in AZ wants everyone to open carry guns anywhere they want. They have passed bill overriding communities/city laws about guns.
