Lost tourism and business revenue will ad up. Not to mention Indiana-based corporations that may look for friendlier states to move their headquarters to.

Dead-beat liberal non-voters: do you really want your lives ruled by Walmart and Apples' moral stances?

No? Then freaking get out and vote! In the meantime get out and do some "free speeching" of your own.

Almost a riff on "Elephantiasis" - a symptom of a variety of diseases, where parts of a person's body swell to massive proportions.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elephantiasis

Obscenely swollen self-entitlement complex. I often refer to it as "The World's Biggest Entitlement Program."

It's not Welfare. It's not the ACA. It's not Social Security or Medicare.

It's the GOP's smug, arrogant, and long-prevailing belief that THEY ALONE are entitled to rule. Only THEY are supposed to be running things. And telling YOU what to do and what to say and what to think and what to believe.

That whole "YES I'm bipartisan! YOU BET! I'm TOTALLY into that! YOU simply do it MY way, and that's true bipartisanship! And we'll get along just fine!"

Two hundred fifty years ago this country became the United States. I think that we've run our course and we need to divide this country up into two countries!

I'm tired of trying to deal with these crazy Republicans. Their ideology is so foreign from that of Democrats or progressives, that I think the time has come to divide this country up. Blue states and Red states!

Europe through the centuries has changed borders, divided countries up(Russia). America has come to that fork in the road where negotiations between both sides are nonexistent.

We need to have the Red states secede from the union or blue states!

Don't say it can't be done, just look at what's happening to indiana. Corporations, sports teams, conventions are ALL pulling out of the state.

They can spend their money, do their business in states that believe in equality.

We won't have to fight over climate change, abortion, public schools vs charter, health care for all, free college, or guns etc. We'd be more like Sweden or Europe,

The red states can pray all they want, with their illiterate, unhealthy, poorly educated constituents.
Just DONT ask us BLUE STATES for ANY help when diaster hits!

Throw Indiana into Jesusland and you've got it. The only problem is Florida and New Mexico which I think would rather be part of the north..

23. Simply...NO.

First post here. But I can no longer remain silent. Dividing this nation WILL cause ALL of us to fail. It would only be a matter of time for open warfare to erupt. Think about that for a minute.

Besides, this scenario goes on the incorrect assumption that all people in liberal or conservative states follow their state government's leanings. Not true. I've lived in Indiana my entire life. I'm am SICK over this incredibly stupid legislation! A LOT of my Facebook friends from Indiana are equally (and in many cases MORE) upset than I am.

So please don't talk about dividing this country. I've long believed that our differences are what make us strong. An ideologically pure society would live isolated from the rest of the world. Look at North Korea. The American Eagle needs both wings to soar. If you cut off the left or right wing, the eagle will spiral into the ground.

Trying to do this in north-central Indiana is a tough task. The dem party is so disorganized while the southern Baptist churches and the tea party trumpet their message of hate from the pulpit, talk radio, and the newspapers. I can only hope RFRA crap is a wakeup call to all fair-minded Hoosiers and maybe we can push some dems into the state legislature next time around. And most of all - get rid of that disgusting governor. He is a real prick (excuse my language). Oh and welcome to DU!

I think we should be like EU. Still keep the name, but have alot of different countries.

The down side of this is not a single state could survive without the United States Federal Reserve

Glad you're here! You make me think back to when that smart-ass rick "Governor Oops" perry insinuated with a very cocky attitude that "well, y'know we could always secede..." WHOLE LOT of us here said - "Please Proceed, Governor!" Along with various addenda all more or less boiling down to "...and don't let the door hitcha where the Good Lord splitcha."

Good to have you both with us! Hey, some of us here have rather ardently expressed the same sort of wishes (AND the same comparisons to the "Dark Lord" cheney, too, for that matter! He seems to define the very Essence of Evil in everything he's said and done, and all the un-punished criminality he embodies to this very day.)

Honestly, sometimes I find myself thinking this would be the only solution that can work - considering how divided this country has become. The Blue States recognize this is the 21st Century. The red states - I dunno. They seem to be wanting to drag us all back to Medieval times. MANY props to DUer closeupready who coined it as a meme just earlier this week. Just REALLY locked it in for me! "Medieval" REALLY nails it.
