Noam Chomsky: Exceptionalism Is a Concept Held By Every Great Power and It’s Always Wrong

In a conversation with theoretical physicist and cosmologist Lawrence Krauss, Noam Chomsky explains why American exceptionalism is neither unique nor founded on truth. The renowned linguist goes on to discuss how, despite the fact that many are under the illusion that United States interventionist attitudes abroad are altruistic, the country’s foreign policy only benefits the most powerful Americans, among other important topics.

That attitude was murderous and, when you get right down to it, those claiming America is "exceptional" still advocate the death of all who disagree.

And when I say "listen," I do mean listen. For those who are on the go, consider downloading the youtube as an MP4, converting it to an MP3, and then loading it on to your MP3 player. That's what I've done, and it's been a wonderful addition. Based on the audio, there are only a couple of moments that truly require visuals (Chomsky picks up some objects on the table during a discussion of free will), but otherwise audio is just fine.

Thanks for posting, marmar!

I'm saddened that this only gets two digit recommendations on DU. I guess most people just don't care enough to set aside the time to hear all of this extremely important and educating information.

And as usual, with his optimistic demeanor, Noam points out just how crucial the role of the American people is, given our relative freedom. We have a responsibility, which if not taken, will be one of the biggest regrets in the history of life on the planet.
