(8,267 posts)the utter disdain these criminals evince towards the Hoi Polloi, I don't know what will.
This man and his fellow war criminals should be in prison for the rest of their lives. (I'd like to see what Cheney would look like after a few months without his cosmetic "assistance."

(4,292 posts)I'd like to see someone wipe the smirk off their faces: Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, et al.
Last night, I made it through half of the latest Frontline episode: Secrets, Politics and Torture, before I had to change channels. It was just to painful to watch.

(8,267 posts)specifically because I cannot bear to watch the condescending, disingenuous advertisements; the sappy, puerile sitcoms; and the propaganda "news" the corporate megalomaniacs continuously shove down our throats.
I get my news online, from verifiable sources, and even that I take with a huge grain of salt--a boulder-sized grain of salt.
I've never been so close to misanthropy in my entire life...

(5,069 posts)Yes, now it seems that questioning the 2003 decision to go to war in Iraq is so popular that it has sex appeal. The 2003 decision is compounded by the following:
1. So many political (from both parties) leaders who had the power to stop this went along with it. 2. President Obama in 'wanting to look foreward' did nothing about this so that it can happen again. 3. President Obama also retained many Bush Administration neocons in his own administration to the extent that he continues many Bush Administration foreign policies (except he relies more on drones); furthermore because people within Obama's party either don't want to criticize the 'first Black president' or don't want to criticize a Democratic Party president, Obama has essentially neutralized the peace movement.

(8,267 posts)are similar in tone to the attacks that proliferated against Hillary Clinton after Obama declared: childish, bullying, disingenuous, and indicative of a serious lack of knowledge re: the political process du jour. Obama became the corporate megalomaniacs' guy, and he was elected handily, all while the corporate megs maintained the facade that we voters chose him.
Sanders is garnering an increasing amount of support from the Hoi Polloi. But I am not naive enough to believe that voters will determine the outcome of this election. The corporate megalomaniacs will prevail, because they have the money and the control (electronic voting machines that are ridiculously easy to hack, gerrymandering, and voting restrictions are just the tip of their criminal iceberg).
I'll still support Sanders, AND I will vote for him if he gets on the ballot. I guess old habits are hard to break...

(67,782 posts)...I understand the light atmosphere at the Correspondents' Dinner, but to joke about this while hundreds of thousands of Americans were in Iraq at the time being killed and maimed.
Very UN-Presidential, as he was throughout his entire 8-year administration.
Disgusting!

(14 posts)Well, the comments by the former president may be sad, tasteless, disgusting, but his audience apparently thought they were funny.

(6,699 posts)along with Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Gonzo, Wolfawitz and others in his administration.
If there is ANYTHING I am disappointed with President Obama about, it is letting these disgusting, lying low-lifes walk free after what they have done to this country's reputation for all time. I realize he may have chosen to do that because the repuKKKes would have torn the country to shreds if he had allowed the indictments to proceed; but sometimes you have to do the tough stuff and have faith that the country is strong enough to survive.
These war criminals not only walk free, but they continue to shove their bull shit to the gullible public to make it sound as though "there is a question" as to whether or not it was helpful, or it was a crime. BOTH are conclusive. NO assistance, and IT IS A CRIME!
The world knows. Only this country is confused; no one else is. We have our own Auschwitz that we are hiding. Shame on us.
Read Ali H. Soufan's book, "The Black Banner" sometime. I read it years ago, and it is an honest accounting of what happened with the FBI and CIA after 9/11.

(4,292 posts)These people -- along with the war profiteers, including and especially the ones who made millions devising and implementing torture techniques -- are textbook definitions of war criminals.
I am also disappointed with President Obama with lack of prosecution of these criminals. Was kinda' hoping that indicting them would be AG Holder's last act. But then I realized that they are all political animals. It's entirely possible that the current administration is holding this silver bullet over the Repukes' head: if they even try to impeach the President, the officials of the Bush administration would be immediately indicted and prosecuted for crimes against humanity.

(11,296 posts)Laughing with him?
About 4 years ago there was a much longer video of dubya yukking it up while searching under tables etc for those danged missing weapons. I think this guy that used to blow up frogs for kicks is a real psychopath. The press probably thinks the same but go along and laugh at this sicko's jokes, otherwise, they may not get invited to any more functions.

(1,074 posts)I was literally sick to my stomach when I first saw this way back when, and it makes me sick to my stomach to watch it again! Please, please MSM, air this now! Everyone needs to see it again (especially Elisabeth Hasselbeck!) I remember when she was on The View, and she criticized Obama for making a joke! And, it was a joke about nothing, but she said something like "with the bad economy (or whatever the situation was), how can the President be joking?!" And, the joke wasn't even about poor people struggling with the economy...it was just some innocent joke! Right now, while everyone is talking about how we should not have gone into Iraq, this segment needs to be shown by the MSM!
