(18,124 posts)from that generation.....positive example of someone who may help bring about equality.........down the road. His parents deserve some recognition since I perceive he learned a lot about caring, truth and empathy somewhere.

(11,833 posts)She describes that a woman used a racial slur against the black kids. A man told them 'Go back to Section 8 Housing!' These adults yell at the kids to 'Respect your elders.' The girl told them 'Why should we respect you? You shouldn't talk to anyone like that.'
The kids were celebrating the last day of school in their neighborhood. The police rounded up the black kids, who had a right to be there. Slamming a young black girl down on the ground while she's sobbing and crying for her mother. Sticking his knee into her back and pushing his entire weight onto her. Drawing a gun and pointing it at other kids. Assault, assault with a deadly weapon, battery, and many violations of the code of conduct for police officers.
I hope everyone there stays safe and obtains justice.

(8,219 posts)That girl that Casebolt dragged to the ground and KNEELED on was under 18, a child in the eyes of the law, as Chris Hayes said.
I hope her family has a lawyer and that he or she adds that to the lawsuit that, hopefully, is in preparation as we speak.
An important point made by Chris and his reporter: You couldn't treat your own child, or even a DOG, in that way.

Interesting that children are the first responders you can trust here.

(6,602 posts)I remember when the only way you could record video was onto tape. Heck, I spent 18 yrs working for the guy who invented the rotating head/FM modulation technique that made it possible (Ray Dolby, when he was in high school, interning at Ampex). And I still have Sony's first MiniDV camera.
I'm too young for Quad, but as a video producer I went through Betacam, U-Matic, DigiBeta, D1-2-3-5, DVCAM ... rendering 2k/4k frames onto DLT for filmout ... but now? Who "videotapes" anymore?
I've saved at least 1 tape from every format, which is good for "What the hell is that?" moments when we have friends over. And the one-off "test disc" laser discs are impressive too (CAV & CLV, remember that?), looking like mirrors that would make the Hubble proud.
But I digress ...
In this new new world of cell phones streaming video to "the cloud" I have to keep reminding myself to say "video record."
