(8,409 posts). . . At the very end, Papantonio says, ". . . and it's all been brought about because of Republicans and this absurd notion of austerity." That is not entirely honest. Yes, Republicans and their austerity ideas are absurd. But our infrastructure is suffering from decades of neglect by both parties. Politicians are generally eager to push for new infrastructure project that they can pin their names on. But maintaining existing infrastructure is so much less sexy than building a new bridge.
