June 20: Happy Birthday, Brian Wilson and Chet Atkins.

Mine too, but never mind that. Brian Wilson was born on June 20, 1942. Chet Atkins was born on June 20, 1924.

Brian Wilson went through some personal ordeals, but he does get out into public and perform from time to time. Surely the biggest omission in my record collection is "Pet Sounds." Here are Brian Wilson and the rest of the Beach Boys, in three different versions of a lovely song from that 1966 album:

On to Chet Atkins, CGP:

This one pretty much owns the Internet:

I wasn't expecting this:

Bonus 70s fashion show:

And I could never leave this out:

Wilson certainly went through hell. First his father and then his shrink who almost killed him.

Fans at Brian Wilson‘s concert last night were in for a Garden State-style treat.

Bruce Springsteen showed up during the Beach Boy’s encore set at the PNC Arts Center in Holmdel, N.J., not far from where the “Born to Run” maestro lives. Donning a dark baseball cap, The Boss sang backup on Beach Boys classic “Barbara Ann” and played guitar on another, “Surfin’ USA.”
....

It wasn’t the first time Wilson and Springsteen shared the stage in New Jersey. In 2007, Springsteen showed up at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank to back up Wilson on, you guessed it, “Barbara Ann.”
