that was wrapped in plastic, a different layer of plastic, that was put on a papery plastic tray, and then the whole thing was wrapped in plastic again, I figure there was probably 1/2 pound there. Won't be buying that again.

produce that people drove miles to buy the tomatoes, etc.

When I'd come in for my shift, the owner would say, "Tomatoes are $0.59 a pound if they ask how much they are, and $0.79 if they don't ask." It was the same with all the produce.

People loved the place because back then (45+ years ago) there was nothing like it within 20 miles.

I've never trusted anything in a grocery store since.

4. Baker's Dozen

Jun 2015

A baker's dozen, devil's dozen, long dozen, or long measure is 13, one more than a standard dozen. The practice of baking 13 items for an intended dozen was insurance against the items being lower than the statutory weight, or of lower than usual quality, which could cause the baker to be fined.

I love their Oatmeal Sandwich Bread and that machine to make your own peanut butter.

Other than that I can get better prices at Trader Joe's and it's closer to my house and actually in Delaware. (whole foods is in Pennsylvania)

I expect to see more ruthless behavior by corporations in the near future.

is to keep the receipt.

This mispricing - and the fact that it happens a lot more often than in Trader Joe's, Kroger, etc. - is something that for years I naively ascribed to their being so short-staffed most of the time (another perennial Whole Foods shortcoming). Having said that, I still like Whole Foods.

Especially their receipts.

got your Whole Paycheck.

And it costs a lot to have your business look that cool and nifty.

Cut out some of the cool and nifty and bring down those prices.
