speak this afternoon in Dallas, Texas, Sunday, July 19. Next stop, Houston.

Go BERNIE! Go DALLAS! Go TEXAS!

DALLAS- U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, the Vermont independent running for president as a Democrat, rallied thousands of Texans here late Sunday afternoon with a progressive CLARION CALL that included some tough talk for Democratic opponents who may be overlooking solidly red Texas in their campaign calculus.

"One of the problems that exists in American politics today, in my view, is that the Democratic Party has conceded half the states in the country at the national level, and that's wrong," Sanders told a raucous crowd inside a downtown hotel ballroom. "We've got to fight them in 50 states, including Texas."

"If we are serious about change in America, we can't just do it in blue states," he later added emphasizing the need for Democrats to have a "50-state strategy" to win the White House. Update: more than 8,000 people are reported to have attended the event.

From their website: "Gather in one of 70 sleek meeting rooms, with the largest accommodating 5,000 guests."

Well, there goes that argument.

Ask anything. 4 were inside the "ballroom " when it opened and as it filled to overflowing. 1 of us volunteered, working signing up everyone.

There is no exaggeration. Typically, historically the numbers at any event in Dallas like this, the numbers are under reported. We were there. We talked to a security person with the hotel at the end. And he was a veteran and liked what he heard.

I watched every local network this evening for coverage of an amazing event. Typical coverage. Not more than 60 secs on a single local network.
Very sad, not unexpected.

many people there. Bernie is very popular with Vets, due to all the work he has done for them. Great that another Vet got to hear him speak.

The MSM doesn't cover anyone but Donald Trump. Wherever Trump goes, the MSM goes.

Thank the gods for the Internet or we would think that Trump was the only candidate running in this election.

Thanks for the info, love to hear from people who were there.

lines in Dallas a long while, since 2001.

Today was big. In a couple of hours over 6K were signed in. At 1pm we stopped signing people in.The main ballroom was full, the outside open area kept filling up.

Senator Sanders is just telling the truth.

a Progressive Message. I don't know how you would describe your politics, but for me, this SHATTERS the story we have been sold for so long, that the country doesn't want a Progressive Message so we have to elect Third Way Dems to win in Southern States.

THAT was a lie. Polls show across the political spectrum, Americans WANT progressive policies. And now, Bernie Sanders is proving it as he attracts Dems, Repubs, Miinorities, Whites, Independents, young, old and as a Dem this is good news to me.

I assume it is good news to ALL Dems.

Unless they somehow joined two rooms together. The video I saw had very poor sound quality. It was almost impossible to hear what he said. I can't say yes or no to the size of the crowd. But a conference room for 5K must be pretty big.

I had lunch at the same brand in downtown Houston. The help kindly warned me off some of the food. It was a nice dining experience, with real silverware, china, crystal, linens, fresh flowers and stuff in an atrium dining room with the sun shining through the ficus. It was all air conditioned, of course.

I asked my co workers why they said that about the food and they said 'they got roaches the size of rats crawling around the food in the kitchen.' So a bitl later, since I had free entry into most areas, I went down a hallway and sure enough, they had fricking huge cockroaches crawling all the lovely pastry and crapping. Folks think that' sbits of burnt crust.

Uh, no. That's not what that is...

I saw the help pick them up and put them on these nice little paper doilies on the plates and served them to all the yuppies. When they we went on strike the help came by and gave me fresh strawberries they'd just got from the farmer's market on the way in, to eat while carrying my sign.

Really nice people. Another guy who delivered fresh flowers also gave me bouquets. So it was sort of a 'bread and roses' event. I didn't eat there again, though...

Sanders' daylong trip to Texas easily represented the most well-attended visit to the state by any presidential candidate so far this election cycle. His campaign said 8,000 people turned out in Dallas, while 5,200 showed up in Houston.
