Matthews is pushing the MSNBC narrative (now indistinguishable from the far right narrative) that there is no difference between the Bernie Sander's Democratic Socialism and Soviet Union Communism. In this regard Matthews is just like Bill O'Reilly and Fox "News".

This is why I never watch Tweety.

Every MSNBC program this evening is slighting Bernie Sanders in an underhanded unfair way.

I repeat, MSNBC does not deserve us.

They found the proper use of "democratic" tested positive to focus groups and "democrat" with an emphasis on the "rat" tested negative.

I'm sure they get an extra thrill to hear someone from the Democratic Party adopt their smear.

Howard Dean used to call them out on it.

Tweety, of course, sycophant that he is (note that I am using the polite term for it but we all know what that means) is buttering up (there is another more apt term for that too) to his bosses and trying to make Sanders look like some extremist.

Sanders is a Democratic Socialist as are many people in Europe and as are lots of people in the US. Bernie Sanders has caucused with Democrats for many years. He is at home with Democrats.

Tweey is "sychophanting" up to the big bosses as usual. What a loser!

I wonder how Rachel Maddow is dealing with this? I can't picture her sychophanting up. She is way above that. Way above her bosses too so she would have to sychophant down to them, and that is hard to do.

Good luck, Rachel.

Sorry about Comcast.

He was young then.

Johnson who signed the Civil Rights and Medicare Bills among other things. Bernie is more like LBJ in terms of his social programs than any presidential candidate at this time.

It is really a cheap shot for Matthews to quibble over the Democratic Socialist label that Bernie wears. Bernie would probably differ with Johnson on foreign policy, but not much on social policies. Bernie is no extremist from what I hear in his speeches, and I listen to him a lot.

The Democratic Party has moved far to the left of the Party that I grew up in with Truman, Johnson, McGovern, McCarthy (ran for president) and even Carter.

And Tweety has moved right with the Party. I'm still of the old school, what Democrats have been historically.

Bill Clinton tried to play the folksy, old-school Democrat, but he really wasn't as we realized in 2008 when his bank and other schemes fell apart. Right now we are reaping the right-wing harvest of Bill Clinton's signing the Telecommunications Act.

Fri Jul 31, 2015, 07:05 AM
Jul 2015

It was a farce.

With this kind of spin being used against Bernie and no debates even scheduled is it any wonder that many Americans have no clue what Bernie is about.

Not one mention of Bernie advocating a Medicare for all plan on the 50th anniversary of medicare & the fact the America is one of the only major industrial countries without such a plan for it's citizens.

Not one mention of paying for college education with a stock transaction tax that would also impede high frequency trading practices. A tax that we use to have (in New York) many years ago and has been eliminated.

No discussion of the bipartisan effort to reinstate Glass Steagall and Bernie's attempts to break up the too big to fail banks that were at the heart of the great recession.

No discussion of wealth inequality where the middle class incomes are shrinking while corporate profits are at all time highs.

No instead Mathews helped DWS look like she was not playing favorites by stalling on the debate schedule by making the entire discussion about a false narrative that Bernie is a "socialist" who doesn't deserve to speak at the national convention. And for DWS's part she sat there and looked shocked while letting the narrative play out...

No one it seems is taught to give a straight answer anymore. They were interviewing the head of Planned Parenthood and when asked about the transfer of fetal tissue to researchers she could not give a simple "no".

Wasserman-Shultz stumbles for a simple answer and when she tries, Matthews (who compensates for his intellectual limits by insulting his guests) hammers the word "SOCIALIST" like Joseph McCarthy

Politics isn't a process of governing the Nation anymore, its a reality show run by intellectual cowards
