The Brainwashing Of My Dad

In a new documentary unveiled this week at Michael Moore’s film festival, one filmmaker takes aim at the “vast right-wing conspiracy” Hillary once put on blast. The Brainwashing Of My Dad also warns of how generations of Americans have been tricked into an angry cult-like devotion to a new conservative lord and savior: Rush Limbaugh and Fox News.

An important film I think. That is why I got involved in it at the kickstarter phase.

I can identify many people who were influenced by these tactics. It seems to get easier to brainwash them as they get older, and yes, perhaps more isolated.

4. I was thinking that too, one of the main keys, isolation. Listening in isolation. I know some

people like that. Also, I used to drive cross-country sometimes. Often there was not much on the radio then, so it was easy to hear the RW crap. I was lucky to have the sense to hear it for what it was, but I think many people listen to it in isolation and get no feedback from someone else that a lot of it is pure propaganda warping their mind.

Isolation is a big part but paranoia and having someone to blame ,or a whipping person, for the perceived ills are also a reason. I've lost many to this rightwing disease. After people have worked all of their lives and saved money to enjoy their retirement years, they are instead sitting around angry and worried that the "people on welfare" will take all of their security. It's also taken away their ability for compassion, pretty much non existent for Republicans. it's really sort of sad and infuriating what right wing radio and fox have done to a mostly aging population and this country.

All the while, technology kept making it easier for people to allow their thinking to be done for them. The Right wing took advantage of the easy targets and made a fortune doing it.
The only cure is a truly balanced media and some kind of rules to make them accountable for truth and accuracy in what is presented on the air.

I've heard some things come out of his mouth in the last few years that I never thought I would hear from him. Really hateful stuff that I won't mention. I don't remember while growing up that he had that much anger and hate. He didn't actually. It came later and when confronted he gets nasty.

"It's the only place you can get the truth!!!!!"

Not just terribly sad, but quite frightening. You can see it all over the world, a nasty form of "conservatism" rearing its ugly head. If not confronted and defeated, we will again find ourselves in a mass conflagration.

Spaghetti help us all.
