Disappearing Arctic reflected in National Geographic maps

Last edited Mon Aug 10, 2015, 06:43 PM - Edit history (1)

By Christine Dell'Amore, National Geographic

Unveiling his most aggressive plan yet to combat climate change, President Obama on Monday referenced recent dramatic changes that National Geographic made to its atlas because of melting sea ice.

"Shrinking ice caps forced National Geographic to make the biggest change in its atlas since the Soviet Union broke apart," Obama said during a speech at the White House. (Watch a video of his speech.)

He's right. The shrinking of the Arctic ice sheet in the 10th edition of the National Geographic Atlas of the World is one of the most striking changes in the publication's history.

ship and Shell Oil was given permission to use 1970 technology to capture and oil spill from the administration and a blow out preventer that was designed just like the BP one in the Gulf.
And in Harpers Magazine has a very good article on the Greenland ice shelf----------and how it is collapsing

And half the people in this country won't believe it. Not don't believe it but
won't believe it. For them to believe in global warming a polar bear is going
to have to walk up and bite them on the ass in down town New York city
and say thanks a lot assholes...my home is gone...my food is gone...so I'm
going to eat you. And even then they will look at FOX news and say what the fuck?
What the hell did I ever do to this bear?

and we the human race go around willy-nilly like it will not happen in my time or I'll be gone deal with it.
The tundra as I speak is on fire, literally, and caving in because there is no permafrost and the dead zone in the lower forty eight states in the western mountains has gone to above 10,000 feet for the pine trees, because of the heat and the pine beetle infestation for the trees to survive in the lower zone, and just that barometer of the trees or pine trees says everything.
And what's really classic is there is only two responses on this thread----go figure

Thanks
