(316 posts)He doesn't believe in politics. He said it wasn't about Bernie, it was about black liberation. But he also said if people really believe that Bernie can help then they should vote for him.

Will do what's in their best interest, even Bernie.
Nor should any politician assume he just has a certain vote.
They should all have to earn our vote. Not expect it.
Phlem
(6,323 posts)of Bernie expecting the black vote. As any other votes the politician must earn it which is all he's been trying to do. Pretty presumptuous that he's "expecting" the black vote.
At the same time why do we let Obama, Eric holder, Loretta Lynch, off the hook? They are "In Charge Right Now!"

(316 posts)I think Bernie has been and is doing the right thing. He is working to earn every vote. But I also don't blame people for being extremely skeptical of politicians especially if they don't follow politics because they have given up on the system. I think we need to have more patience with people. Politicians have been making empty promises for a long time. I'm convinced that Bernie isn't a typical politician but I have been watching his speeches for several years now. A lot of people are just starting to learn about him.
I agree with you that Obama and Lynch should do more.

(8,084 posts)I was speaking about "Right now" I was referring to the upcoming election. And I wasn't just reffering to "the black vote"
I was talking about ALL Voters.
You are the one who inserting race into MY comment.
Why?
Phlem
(6,323 posts)I know, " we're moving forward not looking back" but it still does'nt not absolve The last administration, err this administration "Right Now". duh
"You are the one who inserting race into MY comment. " Oh I forget BLM is not about race.

My comment wasn't about Race it was about All Voters and All Politicians.
Back in 2012 Mitt Romney didn't get my vote because he campaigned in such a way that made it seem like he didn't want my vote.
Back in 2008 Primaries Hilary disqualified herself from my vote
If Any of the candidates want my vote. I will know it based on the things they say they will do that impact my life, and their actions as they campaign. But my vote doesn't owe Automatic Allegiance to any party or any candidate Ever.

(5,927 posts)on the other hand we have a responsibility as citizens to study up enough to know whether they've earned it IMO.
Black Liberation is separate from politics? I just don't get that. Liberation of any kind would be intertwined with politics, so it seems to me.
The way to find out about whether a politician deserves your vote is through being informed about what the politician stands for. If it turns out that the politician is on the wrong side of the issue, THAT is when you act out like he did. Doing it without any knowledge of the man you're interrupting gets you significantly less than what you wanted.
What I'm saying is this shit needs to be done intelligently.
