First video of NASA's visit to Pluto




Bjorn Jonsson made this video by compiling photos that New Horizons took during its close encounter with Pluto. Traveling at speeds of over 20,000 miles per hour, the video covers the 2 hour New Horizon's trip in a brief clip, but gives new perspective on this distant world. (Once beyond it, the spacecraft pointed its camera back as it eclipsed the sun, providing evidence that an atmosphere appears to surround Pluto.)

Thanks for posting this video, tomm2thumbs. It's fantastic.

It's certain that a tremendous amount of knowledge will result from all the data that is eventually received from New Horizons.

Kids today getting up close and personal with Pluto, like earlier generations got first glimpses at Mars... so great!
