Warning-disturbing photo at link:

Prince Khaled al-Faisal, the head of the central Hajj committee, levelled a thinly-veiled racist attack at black pilgrims when he pitted the stampede on “some pilgrims with African nationalities,” the Independent reported.

OTOH, there is a "revolt of the princes" happening in KSA--some princes want to dump Salman and put in someone, anyone else--apparently he is not well regarded by some....this story could be a disinformation campaign.

What we know is that this is a tragic situation.

The saudis cleaning up the bodies with a bulldozer, dumping them into a dump truck. They are a sick and broken nation.

and what was reported was bad enough.

I did not think that expanding the size of Grand Mosque somewhat was a bad idea, and some of the improvements they made (air conditioning for a part of the hajj that used to be done outdoors) is probably easier on elderly pilgrims. However, the enlargement is STEROIDAL and they aren't done yet. They've destroyed some historical buildings that had great significance to Muslims who weren't Saudi Wahhabists. Instead of "Guardian of the Holy Places" there are a lot of people who regard them as "Destroyers of the Holy Places." It is just TOO MUCH. They used to limit the number of people allowed to come, for reasons just such as this--now it seems they pack 'em in like cattle and fill all those luxury hotels they tore down old neighborhoods to construct.
