(14,177 posts)I too cringed at Bernie's opening remarks. It's almost like he was playing the pool shark only to sink em all with a bank(a breaking up the big banks) shot.

(14,177 posts)I am okay with missteps and misspeaks, everyone does it. And Bernie will always have a tendency to try to pivot back to his strengths. That was the wrong time to do so, but he got over it and that goes a long ways to getting my attention.

(40,416 posts)As always, TYT nails it. This tag line is perfect.
We want to hear our candidates speak. And by the way, not on Saturday night.
The next Democratic debate, only On MS-NBC, at 3:30 am on Sunday! Tune in to get the Democratic Party take on the world!
Has the national party gone off the cliff? Seems like I am Harvey Keitel in "Thelma and Louise". No! Pull back from the cliff!
However, somebody is saying, "Let's just keep going." We know where that ends.

(24,720 posts)but to hold a debate on Saturday, during College Football.
When my favorite College Team the Golden Gophers of Minnesota playing the Hawkeyes of Iowa, 35-40 I watched the debates, the question is what was viewer ship, because the losers, was this country on the issues against college football, and the DNC really needs to be called out on this issue ------------------again

(5,856 posts)it doesn't matter who may have "won" the debate, people are not going to change their minds if they have already accepted her short-comings. She got applause, applause for fuck's sake, when she said 60% of her donations are from women. Not only was she NOT answering the question, might also some of those donations be from Sanders or O'Malley supporters who like that a woman is doing so well in her run for the presidency? Are we to extrapolate that women voters would not donate to a Wall Street hack? What evidence is there that they even care? The fact that even the twitter question that so deftly exposed the nonsense of her initial response was roundly ignored after her equally tepid response to her use of 9/11 to deflect from our concerns makes me believe that there is no accountability to her weaknesses.

.good debate performance is exactly why DWS and HRC want no one to see the debates.
They know the debates over time, if we had enough of them, would raise OMalley and Sanders and give them the same name recognition she has. Which is the end of the one advantage she has: Bill's last name.
